Default Light Bulbs Ls 400

I NEED TO REPLACE THE LIGHT BULBS FOR MY '91 LS400 WITH PIAA LIGHTS.
WHAT ARE THE RIGHT ONES: 9004, 9005 OR 9006?
THANKS

They are 9004. I have a 1991 LS400 and I just put in PIAA superwhites yesterday. I had the Sylvania High Output bulbs in there before. The PIAA lights are definitely brighter and more pure white.

Thanks GA400 .... what is the votage?
I forgot to mention that this is for low beam. PIAA 9004 is for high beam, PIAA 9006 is for low beam, correct? i heard that more than 55w could burn the wires. Also are there any mods needed or the new bulbs they just pop right in?

actually, the 9004 has two filaments in each bulb, one for high beam, one for low beam. I think the wattage on the bulbs I got were either 45w or 55w, on the package it said you got output as if it were a higher wattage bulb. No mods needed, just follow the instructions in the owners manual to replace headlight bulbs, remove the old bulbs, and they plug right in. The holes have a shape and notch so that they will only go in the right way. Make sure not to touch the glass on either the old bulbs (save them in the PIAA package just in case) or the new ones, fingerprint oils significantly shorten the life of the bulb. If you do touch them accidentally, clean them with alcohol on a q-tip.

Hold on! What year is your LS? The bulbs were later changed in 1993 I believe or was it 94. . . anyway the first gen lights were 9004, and later that changed to H4(9003).

oops, I am an idiot. I didn't see that you put down your year. My bad! Yeah. . . those piaa's are nice. I'd stay away from Silverstars tho. . . the price for the output just isn't justified to me.

I have a 90 LS and I have 80/100 watt 9004, and have no melting issues(have run this setup for almost 3 years now). But I'm crossing my fingers that everything will be ok. So far there is no sign of wire/harness wear or damage, and everything is in running order. IMO those "higher output" bulbs don't cut it for me. You might want to really consider buying HID's. I tried the legal Piaa's before and have sinced moved up/down to high output bulbs, and now HID. I find that even the high outputs, although they tend to be painted, light up the road better, but you do run that risk of damage. . . . anyway any change over stock is a huge improvement.

Thanks for your info. ClubLexus Rules!
I am a new member and already have learned so much about LS400. Also I am interest in buying a new GX470 and watching GX470's issues very closely.

Junction Produce makes sky white bulbs for the inside & outside of the car. I have replaced all mine in the past year. They look awsome.
