edited above-note that it is a wedge bulb--will fit gen 1 but not sure about later gens--look at your light bulb list.
ALSO note: this is 18 watt not 4 watt orig; there is enough space between the lens and bulb in Gen 1 but again check yours--if too close it will distorte the lens. Know that for the side light conv on the gen 2 where you have to put a socket that the 18 watt bulb will be too strong !!!!!!!! Use the 4 watt for that.
look in the PIAA section of autotoys.com

So, if you put an 18 watt wedge bulb in the sidelights when the original was 4 watts, won't your wiring melt?

Is it correct to assume that changing over headlights to the PIAA extreme white's on a Gen 1 will not cause excessive dazzle for oncoming drivers?

Also, if the lights are so much brighter, would oncoming drivers/pedestrians be able to still see the indicator lights as clearly as before? I just thought maybe they would need upgrading too?

18 w divided by 14.3 v isn't much : how about 1.25 amps. Do you think the wire will not handle that HEAVY amperage???? Don't do it then !!! Lowest fuse rating in car is 7.5 amps !!!

I also run 100 / 80 watt headlight bulbs---oh my gosh !!!

No, the wiring won't melt...I've had my polarg 18w M6's in there for about a year, and no melting problems at all except for the bulb turning a little brown from being close to the plastic lens on the parking light.

It's not correct to assume that changing to PIAA's will cause "excessive dazzle" for oncoming drivers, they're just whiter than stock headlights, but not as intense as HIDs.

Yes, oncoming drivers will still be able to see the indicator lights just as well... possibly even more because they'll look yellow compared to the PIAAs...it's a good idea match them up with the headlights IMHO.

BR1AN, The side markers are fused so If you put too high wattage bulbs in them it will blow the fuse, to protect the wires and plug.................That is why I put the fog lights into my corners and turned the old fogs into 100% running DLS..................MIKE

Well, good thing I went back to M4's to match more with the LEDs in the indicator lights next to the turn signal.

BTW, 1st genners can't do the fog light/DRL/parking light swap. I'm 99% sure the parking light housing will either melt or leave a burned discoloration on the inside.

No they're not. '91 models use the 9004 bulbs and '94s use H4 bulbs.

Default LS400 Headlights

Hi,
I'm planning to upgrade stock headlights on my ‘93 LS400 to brighter lights, and don’t want to spend too much. As I understand I have to buy a 9004 type of bulbs.
What you think about these:
EUROLITE XENON SUPER PLASMA BULB XB
http://www.autotoys.com/x/cust/produ...?productid=959

I also what to upgrade stock parking lights bulbs to:
PIAA N6/M6 194/168 LARGE SIZE W2 XTREME WHITE
http://www.autotoys.com/x/cust/produ...productid=1499

I’m wondering if PIAA M6 will match with Eurolite 9004 bulbs?!

Or any other suggestions will be appreciated!

Thanks in advance.
