Default Can HID ballasts be repaired?

Guys,

I bought an SC that had Hella 8500k HID's. The previous owner told me that one of the ballasts wasn't working and that it needed replaced. I have found it impossible to locate these ballasts so I was wondering if they can be fixed??

I don't have the $$$ to start from scratch and buy a new set. Any ideas??

Thx,

Jonny

Are the ballast under warranty? Take it to your nearest dealer.

Good luck with that last one
no car comes OEM with any HID with any other temperature higher than 4300K. Its the only way to go. 6000K isn't bad as many here can attest but 8500K....ewww. (Sorry about my comments....its how I felt). Your best bet here would be to replace your ballasts. If you're not an electrician I wouldn't tackle this project with a million foot pole. 30000 volts runs through your ballasts when you flick the switch to run your HIDs. Because of the danger you risk of repair your ballasts, finding an electrician would be the best bet. However, due to the lack of demand for repair of HID equipment around the world, prepare to pay bigg bucks. Remember HID equipment runs 1200-1500 at the dealer. That price seams reasonable when you factor in repairs. Do your self a favor....seek Ebay for replacement ballast and bulb set. Grab a set with Philips ballasts and OEM Philips or Osram bulbs. You can find a good one for circa 150-250 if you look right. You can keep the 8500z but plan on being pulled over by the cops pretty soon. Sorry guys I'll probably get flamed for that commet but thats just how I feel.

This site explains it best......

Tiguy,

Hey man - I am always open to everyones opinion. I would not have chosen 8500k either but they were what was on the car - and because of my financial situation I cannot really afford a new set. I just hate that one of my headlights is a bright *** HID and the other is a yellow OEM light.

If you see anything around that u think would work for me please hit me up. I have one Hella ballast and 2 8500k bulbs!! Help a brother out!!

Peace,

Jonny
