LED Replacement Bulbs - A little help
I'm about to purchase a set so I can clear out my 96 taillights before the 26th.
Before I get piled on by the "search button" posters, let me tell you that I did a search and there isn't a post with a definitive answer.
Let's just take one side.
There is one bulb for the turn signal, 2 for the brakes, and 3 wedge bulbs in the top for parking lights (these we can ignore)
Of the 3 bulbs, which are 1157 and which are 1156?
Yes....it would make sense to make the brakes 1156 because there's only one filament and the brakes only have a single stage of light but I heard that they use 1157 anyways, so please do not post your "ideas" or "feelings"
I need someone (probably someone who's changed to LEDs) to tell me which ones are which.
Turn Signal Bulb: 1156 or 1157?
2 Brake Bulbs: 1156 or 1157?
Thanks in advance,
~Alan

Two points to bear in mind. Getting LEDs with more than 15 "elements" won't fit without some kind of modification (I stuck with the 15's). And two, you'll need a high wattage (50 watts) 6 ohm resistor to slow your turn signal blink rate back to normal (unless you like the hyper-blinking ) Using LEDs for the brake lights will cause your bad bulb indicator to come on on your dash. I don't know whether using another resistor on the tail/brake lights will fix this. I think I posted awhile ago where you can get the resistors from.

I bought super white 24-led 1156 bulbs from them for my cornering lamps. Decent prices, pretty fast shipping, no complaints
Edit: Also Calvin is right on the money with regard to the brightness, the light output sucks even with 24-leds but it does look very cool in concert with the same bulbs in my cleared sidemarkers and parking ights. Oh well, I guess you can't have everything

I started my tail-light clearing process by purchasing and test-fitting the LED bulbs.
The ones I got are 24 led......18 in front and 6 on the sides.
They fit withouth any modifications.
Check out the 24LED Matrix bulbs
Another thing: I did not experience the hyper-blinking phenomena although my tail-light out indicator does come on when I hit the brakes and stays on until I turn off my car.
I sent you a question via PM....
Thanks,
~Alan

Figured I'd bump a thread, what is the right bulb type to get for the Parking Lights (The ones next to the headlight projector)? I want to do an LED bulb for this, but I need to know if it is 168 or 194 (I'm thinking its 194, becuase it looks a bit bigger than the sidemarker bulb, which I know is 168)?
Ok, after further searching, I've found that either 194 or 168 will fit in the socket. Now, it also said somewhere along the lines that one is brighter than the other, but didn't specify which one. 194 is 3 watts, 168 is 5 watts, but I got a hint that the 194 will be a bit brighter? I know the bulbs are really dim to begin with, but I'd rather the more bright of the two.
BLAH! Stop moving my threads to the lighting section, nobody answers my posts here
It's alright, I'm gonna go to autobarn today and pick up whatever I find there in the 168/194 variety of Hyper/Super White. I might get the PIAA Super Plasma GT-X, but I don't know what color light that puts out, my guess is that it's more blue than white.
