9006 to OEM HID ballast adapter?
aloha to my fellow CL members. I'm a long time reader, first time poster. I have recently acquired a set of OEM HID housing to replace my halogens and I am not sure that I am totally comfortable cutting and splicing my factory wiring. Does any one out there know of some sort of adapter that would allow more of a "plug and play" install. Any and all assistance is greatly appreciated.
Mahalo,
Kaliko

So i just confirmed, it plugs right into where the bulb plugs into the harness. That goes to the ballast then the ballast goes to the bulb whick is based to 9006 projectors. No external wiring or cutting/splicing of your stock wiring needed. If anyone is interested let me know.

hey rscott, if you have more info or pics maybe you can tell us how to do it, i am sure a lot of people wanna know. if you have pics and can't hold it you can contact me and i can do that for you
likopiko, at the same time you can probably talk to raygs3 too, he didn't cut any wires. same here, my installer "somehow" put the stock halogen power connector into the power connector for the oem hid housing ballast and everything just works perfect

No pics as of yet but ill try to get some this week sometime. For now, ill provide a diagram =)
Hope its kind of workable
Stock:
<bulb>= =connector-> wiring harness
now with these other kits, the ballast has an adapter that inserts right into the connector on the harness as diagrammed below.
<HID bulb>= (HID bulb connector)----------[ballast]----------=connector= =connector->wiring harness
so basically what the kit is is the connector that plugs right into the stock bulb harness that leads to the ballast then to the bulb. No external wiring needed. It runs off of the stock power and ground. I dont believe you have to worry about blowing any fuses. I know many people that have been running the kit without any problems at all.
Rominl: I ask for a PM so the mods dont throw rocks at me for selling stuff in the wrong section, not hiding anything at all. Id like to keep the post as informative as possible without people bidding on things so that it gets moved.

being that there are no existing miracle adapters out there... I've decided to make my own. I have the female 9005 plug to go the factory harness ( I got it from Matrix Motorsports) and now I need the male plug to go to the OEM ballast. I called Lexus today and the guy said that there is no part number for it. I find that hard to believe that if for some reason someone was to break this part, they would have to buy the complete wiring harness...$1,000. I know I'm being hard headed not just splicing, but I gotta try. If anyone has connections and can find that part number I would really appreciate it.

thanks rscott but I actually just installed them without any slicing, dicing, or splicing. I was able to remove the OEM wires from the OEM plug by lifting the retaining cligs. The factory wires pluged right in to the female 9006 plug that I got from Matrix. Thanks to everyone who tried to help.
