Default Sylvania Silver star 9005ST

These are the high beam bulb that many people are putting in their low beams with a little modding.

The site I am looking at say' that these are 70 watt 1700 lumens. My question is, will these burn up my wiring if I put them in the low beams on my sc400?

Thanks for all responses

SilverStar 9005 are 65 watts....that site is wrong if its saying its 70 watts.

Quite a few peeps have done this mod....put 9005 65 watt in the 9006 low-beam. Stock low-beam is 55 watts (or around there)....so only 10 watts increase should NOT fry your low-beam wires or socket.

Congrats on all the posts!

I am gonna do this mod since I can't see 10 extra watts burning anything up.

I hear about people buring wires with higher wattage bulbs but I just want to see if anyone has burned wires doing this particular mod with silverstars.

The only downside I can see with this mod is having to replace the bulbs more often than stock. So What,it's only money, right?haha.

Is there for any car, or just the SC's? Let me see if Im clear on whats goin down -
You're putting Syl. S-Stars high beams on the low beams?
What do the Silverstars look like? Bright white or bluish tint to them?
Ive had a few sets of crappy ebay ordered headlights that didnt last long, and weren't
to my liking.

I replaced my oem with the silver stars (9005) a couple of days ago. They are much better than the oem bulbs I had in there. They put out a White Light instead of the yellowish light the oem bulbs put out. It's easy to make the 9005 high beam bulbs work in the low beam sockets.

Just take some needle nose plyers and press the two little plastic guides inisde the bulb housing together.Snap them little plastic things off and there you go.

i have silverstars in my car. i liked the color, but 3 out of the four have burned out, including the third one today. they burned out in a little over 2 years. i've used every precaution when instaling them, using gloves and NOT touching the glass.

Default 9005's and 9006's SC's and GS's

I bought three sets of Silverstar 9005's at a really good price to replace 1, the 9006's in my SC, 2, to replace the stock 9005's in my SC and 3, to replace the 9006's in my GS. As for 1, it's a pretty straight forward swap. As for 2, I'm wondering if it's worth the effort to swap out my stock 9005's for the new Silverstars. I'd like to hear opinions since I really don't feel like going through the high beam swap hassel. As for 3, it looks like the GS has a reflective cap over the low beam which may really reduce the desireable effect of having 9005's in the low beam position.

Thoughts and suggestions would be helpful...

Thanks
