Last I checked, the Silverstar's life expectancy rating was a mere 10% of a typical OEM bulb. And a direct quote from Sylvania: "We estimate the SilverStar halogen lights to have a life span of up to one year under average driving conditions."

I have the SilverStars and they're still going strong after about a year and a half, but I've read plenty of reports of them lasting only a year or two for others. Longevity may also depend on whether you use them as DRLs as well. I got them on sale for $20 for the pair, but don't think I'll ever buy them again.

The Sylvania Silverstars are proven bulbs and they do give a very clean bright white light.
Silverstars really aren't all that different. They also use a light-robbing blue coating to filter out a portion of the light spectrum for that "bright white" look. Sylvania itself states the Silverstar uses a "blue coating to help give the whiter light appearance." The blue absorption layer used on the Silverstar, however, is likely better than what is used on a lot of the aftermarket, lesser-name bulbs.

For best light output and visibility, the Sylvania XtraVisions (clear bulb) are stil the way to go. The Silverstars are Sylvania's profit-minded, over-driven, short-lived, blue-coated bulbs meant to appeal to those with a "whiter light must be better" mentality. With that said, I'm currently using a set of these myself.

I've had a set of 9003 HB4 Silverstars on my 99 Solara for 2 years now with no issues. Of course nothing beats the OEM HID of my 04 IS.

yup, these are good bulbs, had them on all the cars w/o HID and they're pretty good. So right now, it's only on the Eclipse.
