Color question for Hella 6000k HID kit.
I just installed my 6000k Hella HID kit yesterday and when I turned them on, it looked straight up purple! I called the company to make sure that the bulbs they sent were 6000k and not >10000k and they confirmed that they were 6000k. I told them there are purple metal thing that running parallel to the bulb and they said that's how it's supposed to be. They said it should become more white with hint of purple in a week or so. Has anyone had the same problem with 6000k kit? Thanks in advance.

There are many kits that claim to use Hella ballasts (Hella does not make any kits themselves).
If you want people to help you, you need to post some pics of your kit (and packing).
If you think these "6000k" are too purple, ask for a 5000k kit

what kind of ballasts that's not the biggest problem, what brand of bulbs that should be the key. you said the gnd wire is purple right? how about the sand in the middle of the bulb (inside the glass), are they red? if so, i think the bulbs are philips.
anyway, hid bulbs they usually take up to about 100 hours of usage to "burn in" and the color wil get whiter from what i remember.
of course, purple or not that's relative, so i can't say for sure what you have

Here's the pic of the HID . It's been a week since I installed it and probably used it for 5-7 hours. I still can't see whether it got lighter or not. I tried to turn them on as much as I could although it looks funny in the day where it looks noticeably ly purple. I believe my 6000k bulbs are made by GE, or at least that's what I've been told. If I still can't see any difference by next week, I might trade them in for 5000k.
gapxguy, which kit did you get?

Hi,
I was thinking about upgrading my lights to HID so I started researching the net and various forums regarding the different companies out there. I found numerous dealers which seemed pretty legitimate. My main concern right now is warranty.
I was reading a thread on HIDplanet.com that really got me thinking...Tell me if this makes sense to you:
Warranties don't mean squat with these kits. At least for US distributed kits. The government is cracking down on US distributors big time. To date (11/2004), NHTSA has investigated 24 HID conversion kit suppliers; all investigations have resulted in recalls or termination of sales.

Outback Products, Inc.

How do you get a warranty/replacement parts from a company that is no longer in business or doesn't carry the product anymore because the government busted them??
If you must buy a kit, I would suggest purchasing one from a distributor outside of the US.
Here is a link to the thread:

This makes complete sense... If these companies close down I really dont have any warranty what so ever unless I buy from a company that is based outside of the US??
Thanks for your time... Just want to make sure I am making the right choice especially when spending several hundered dollars.

rominl, here's the pic of the bulb and it's clear.
gapxguy, that's what I wanted when I bought my HID kit. Where did you get it? I got mine from www.proxenon.com.
