I know you can get a pair of Denso (Toyota OEM) Ballasts and I think Philips bulbs (not 8000k) for $288 on Ebay (Also referenced in another thread)

Don't do it.
I've bought three "cheap" kits, everything from McCulloch to K2 and I forget the others. I was unhappy and regretted it every single time.
Pay the extra $100-$120 and go with xenondepot.com. If anything, you can later on sell the kit and get more $ out of it then another cheap asian kit.
The kit I bought was a 4300k, looks perfect with a bright white with a respecable amt of purple. They even supply a REAL actual wire harness with relays, and connecting points for the grounds on each ballast. Also, the xenondepot kits allows you to connect the kit directly to the battery so the vehicles stock wiring isn't at risk of longterm overuse.
Just my 2 cents. If I could have just saved myself the agony of doing the ebay thing and could get all the $ back!!

I would advise against the cheap hid, with these you really do get what you pay for. I would recommend going to xenon depot as they are quite reputable and sell hid kits at reasonable prices. Also dont get above 6000k the 8000k looks ugly and is not as bright, imho. But just spend a few extra $ and you wont regret it

thanks for the advice guys. i guess i'll just sell my sti hids and save up some more money so i can get hids from xenondepot. at first i wanted 8000k cuz of the blueish color but as i read more threads about 6000k and 8000k i found out that 6000k you can see more and that is what i want. i guess the more higher the k is the less you can see.
