Default Gs400 HID flicker

I haven't changed my front HID lightbulbs on my 98 GS to my knowledge since I got the car 3 years ago.

How long do they last?

Regardless, my problem is that my left front light will light up when first turned on, then will go out in about 10-20 seconds. I shut off the lights and turn them back on, and they work, then the left will go out again. Do I need new bulbs, and what would be my cost? are they $100s of dollars, or is that for the whole casing, etc?

Sorry, confused; I am tempted to go to pep boys and let them rob me...

try to swap the two bulbs and see if the problems now happens on the right side or it's still the left side. if it becomes the right side then it's the bulb problem. i think it's a bulb problem myself.

if you get bulbs, get a pair, otherwise there will be color mismatch. shop ebay for that, much cheaper

hes got different sets.

D2R cost more than D2S. THe Osram bulbs you're lookin at are D2S.

Notice the Philips d2r vs the d2s price. D2R cost more.

so Lexus tells me they sell their own brand, and they are $300 each! I was wrong, pep boys has non HID

so I am a newby and fearful, do I just buy these 4300 D2R on ebay and attempt to replace both myself or bring to a shop?

second thing Lexus told me is that if they're blown, they're blown, they are not sure why the left lamp would light for 5 seconds then go out.... wonder if it is just loose, or is that a waste of time thought?

Appreciate the expertise of the members here, thanks again

agree with Rom- you should try to switch bulb sides and rule out ballast or other prob.

So Toyota replaced one, said the other one was still good, so then I said might as well replace them both.

Now it appears to me that my right light shines higher than my left, but when I stand next to both close up, they both shine about knee high.

Can they have been isntalled incorrectly, and or adjusted? it is a pain to reopen...
