To clear any confusion (and to answer the main question I've been getting from several people)...I didn't use paper anywhere in this retro. I used a sheet metal plate and crafted the silver wall behind the Audi Shroud. I then trimmed it and painted it with a flat high temp paint to match (most time consuming part of this retro by the way). Hope this helps

very very nice work done mike. i think i made the correct decision to hire u to do my retrofit.. quick question though, would the q45 projectors i am using in my headlight give out as much output as the s2k or e46 projectors? also in case i didnt mention, i have a philips 6000k HID system. im not sure what bulbs they are. hope that wont be a problem installing, once i get the headlights back from u. also have u done any led tail lights for a GS? if youre interested in doing so, let me know. keep up the good work man!

Thanks tiguy. THat's the LS retro I was thinking about
The LS beam is very wide and BRIGHT, lighting up whole neighborhood, while the s2000 beam cutoff is super sharp.

The beam pattern is going to be wide spread like the E46 but not as sharp as S2K. S2K are projectors on another level when it comes to sharpness. That's their expertise. Q45 is known for the unique look they provide because of their design and how they focus seven smaller projectors into one image. Their light is bright almost like LS430 but not quite. Do a search for Aristo's GS. He's got beam shots on here somewhere

Installing will be easy. There are numerous write ups on this site on how to take off and put on GS headlamps. As for LED, I haven't ventured into that zone yet but plenty have on www.hidplanet.com/forums. Hell there's even a section for LED retrofitters. 6000K is ok. The output on the ground will be pinkish/purplish/white. I only recommend 4300K philips because you get maximum light and they look good once they colorshift (around 50-100 hours of burn in time) and start to turn purple/blue yet their light gets whiter on the ground.

The housing is a flat silver (high temp paint of course) the same used to color the rear wall behind the shroud.

The shrouds are painted a flat black.

The car has a sliver on black thing going on

Cant wait for the pics. I am glad I am letting Mike do my retro. I am curious to see how the silver housing looks on a silver car. I am trying to decide between silver, gunmetal, or leave it chrome. Hurry up with the pics man
