Default Help me sc300 hid just installed !!! need help

Can someone please help me out. I just put my friends 1999 acura tl hid on my 94 sc300 and it got even worst than stock headlight. It does go on but seem like i am driving with no headlights on. I really need to get this fix because i can't see anything at night. Do you think the ballaster does not have enough power or something. I custom fit the bulb to fit perfectly.

make sure the bulb is in the socket right, otherwise, it looks like poo.

a huge issue with HID is the bulb socket, and the mounting...

if you "customized" the bulb socket to make it fit, there's a HUGE chance that you screwed with the focal length of the bulb--which pretty much renders the bulb useless.

and btw, a 99 TL uses D2R bulbs, which have a coating to reduce bottom glare---you need to scrap that off if you're going to put them in projectors.

I just call my friend and he told me the same. I thought it did not have enough power. I got this set of hid for a really good price but now I know why. I mounted the bulbs in the socket really good with no movement. I want to try scraping off the bottom just to see how it come out. What can I use to scrap off the black coat?

This is easy. You're using D2R bulbs made for Xenon Reflector headlamps where you're putting them into projector headlamps not made for HID. You can still use the HID in there but you're gonna need a set of D2S bulbs made for projector use and voila let there be light!!!!
Ebay has a set for under 70 of the Philips brand

It could be. I would not be surprised about that. He had it laying in his house and I bought the kit for $100 bucks. I dont ask where people get it from as long as I know I am buying it.

I Just bought 9006 bulbs on ebay. I put them on and it looks great ($80 bucks). I was wondering if 8000k bulbs will be ok with my acura tl ballaster. Will it burn out faster ?????

Yes because they're all the cheap bulbs manufactured in Taiwan but don't say I didn't tell you so. The only ones Auto manufacturers use are Philips or Osram 4300K bulbs. Both companies make special variations of the D2S/D2R xenon bulbs designated in 5000K (for replacement of one burned out bulb so it can match the other one better since HID bulbs go through a burn in period) and 6000K for off road use. Anything else isn't made with the strict regulations that go into manufacturing the above mentioned product and not only that, produces blue light with is actually bad for your eyes (see HID bulb sticky)

You've been warned
