Now just imagine a boosted kit with bi-xenons, I'll be running this as soon as I wire it up.

I would be afraid to damage your headlights as the bulbs will be burning significantly hotter. This is why we do not carry 50W kits. 35W HID bulbs do not burn significantly hotter than halogen bulbs however 50W+ kits would be risking it.

This is why Philips produced the DL50 guy...it burns 5º hotter than a 35 watt bulb.

Nothing to be afraid of there.

at 5200 Lumens per bulb I think no one needs that much light, in fact it is more dangerous as the light reflects back into your eyes and constricts your pupils, making the objects on the sides of the road less lit impossible to see, such as deer and other animals.

i'd like to see the current pull specs on this modded kit .... considering that 35W ballasts only pull about 4Amps, I think there's still a lot of room for heat to dissipate in the headlight housing...

the ballast itself on the other hand is another story...

Hey,

I have a little question about that realy nice mod!
I am from germany and I have an bosch ballast.

Now I want to mod this one like yours.
But there is one thing I don't understand!

What is of the end of the new wire ?
I think a potentiometer, right?
But if it's right, which capacity is it?

I'm very lucky if somebody can help me!

Thx a lot!

Yes, a potentiometer is used on the wire added. The value range can be estimated by using the resistance value of the resister on the board, IE, 2412 Ohms. Now, as shown, the potentiometer will be in parallel with the original resister, so the resulting equivalent resistance (Req) of the two resistances in parallel can only be LESS than the original value, calculated formula for Parallel Resisters, Req = 1/Sigma (1/R, 1/Rn) or Req = 1/(1/R1 + 1/R2) R1 = 2412 ohms, R2 = Potentiometer value, ohms.

For example, R1 = 2412 ohms, R2 = 2400 ohms, then Req = 1/(1/2412 + 1/2400) = 1/(4.145 e-4 + 4.166 e-4) = 1/(8.132 e-4) =
~1,202, ~1.2k ohms, with the pot at maximum 2,400 ohms value setting.

Default 75 watt ballast mod

Creating a 75 watt (or better) Ballast to work with a DL50.

It sounds like someone has made this modification and it works. I am interested in (2) ballasts. Do you know where I could find someone to tweak (2) of these and what the cost would be?

I may know of a few other people that might also be interested.

Please reply to Mike at stollman@hotmail.com

Thanks

WHY? Do you wanna blind the people in front of you? Anyways, there are kits that'll do 55watt and it comes with a ballast. 75watt? you kidding me? I'd go postal and ram you off the road! LOL.
