How about the 9005 hack...according to intellexual.net , it is a 65 watt bulb and the stock sc bulbs are 51 I believe it said. Is that enough of an increase in wattage that one would have to worry about burning up the wires?

IMO, I would say the silverstars for the price instead of a HID conversion.

I did this hack and am happy with it. I replaced all four bulbs with Sylvania Silverstar 9005s -- the ones recommended for the high beams. The lens through which the low beams are focused is effective enough at disbursing the light that I've not had a single oncoming driver flash at me, yet I can see a lot better.

The highbeams are significantly brighter than my old ones.

I don't know how old my bulbs were. The car is a 95 so they could have been replaced more than once before I got it.

This was a good mod. I got the bulbs at Autozone. As I remember about $75 for all four.
