Default LS430 fog lights (2004 and up?)

What type of bulb and housing is on the LS430 fog light?

It gives a cool blue color instead of the yellow like the GS/IS.

Is it similar like the above, just consisting of a 9006 bulb with a blue translucent plate in front ?

We have a 2005 LS430 and the bulbs orginally, to me looked like regular halogen bulbs and did nothing for me. I went ahead and upgraded to a 30% Xenon 9006 with a blue tint to try and match the HIDs, didnt come out bad but the right side blue last week after 14months. Bought some new ones, different company and im going to see how those turn out tommorrow. From what I orginally remember tho was there was no type of blue film or tint or anything to the foglights like the GS and IS have those yellow tint built into the housing.

Confirmed. The 2005 LS430 has no sort of "tint" built into the housing. I just replaced my foglights on it. The bulbs i put in were a litle more blue than i was hoping for but the bulbs i orginally bought were discontinued so i had no choice.

Thanks for the input and research.

I'm still not convinced that the LS430 foglight is just a regular white halogen lamp. Take the non-HID fog light in the GS4/3xx for example, that light is much more white than the LS430.

Maybe it's the bulb type?

it also has to do with how the reflective service in the back is done. it can greatly affect the pattern

There are a few factors that determine the actual brightness/color of the foglights on the different lexus cars. One, the reflector, how is it shaped? what kind of coating did they use to make the reflector? another factor is the plastic/glass lens that covers it.

The 2005 LS430 that we bought in november of 2004 that was made in september of the same year, came factory with sylvania 51w 9006 bulbs. I dug up the factory foglights from my box of unused/replaced parts from the lexi. the bottom of the bulbs say:
SYLVANIA
9006 HB4 U
E1 22P 12V 51W
DOT E1904 USA

Attached is a picture of the bulb...THEY ARE NOTHING SPECIAL, at least they dont look like it to me.

Great info, so I guess you are both right on! It has something to do with the housing or reflector.

I'd like to make this same kind of color in my SC fog ligths. I may have to find some LS430 foglights and cut the reflector / housing to fit.

Try getting some blue coated foglights? I orginally bought a pair that looked alot like the HIDs. Dont start hacking up your SCs fogs just yet, try a couple different bulb setups first maybe you can acomplish the color that way. Just a thought
