Bulbs for Clear Fogs to Match Factory HID
Hello All,
I am going to swap my yellow fogs for some clear fogs and am looking for a bulb that will closely match my factory HID headlights. I am probably going to go with Polarg M4 for the wedge lights
and was thinking Sylvania Silver Stars for the clear fogs but want to get some input from you guys and gals. I want everything to match.
Thoughts?
Thanks...
Neil

Cyber White
I was in Walmart and found some blue Cyber White Xenon 194 bulbs and some 9006s. I bought them and tried them on my car. Althought the wedge lights were blue, they look yellow and are dimmer than the plain 194 bulb.
Same thing for the 9006. They didn't look like HIDs, the color was very similar to the OEM 9006 in the clear fogs and they seemed dimmer. Save your time and money, don't buy the Cyber Whites.
I did some more research on the SilverStars. They are rated at 4000K but I don't know what the actual temp will be. Does anyone one have any data? If they are really 4000K, installing them in clear fogs should match nicely with the factory OEM 4100-4300K HID and Polarg M4s in the Wedge.
Has anyone got a similar set up?
Thanks..
Neil

Actual Outout
Anyone know the actual output of OEM HID bulb? I've read they are 4100-4300K but wonder what they really output based on the huge variances reported in the sticky test results of the H4s.
Thanks..

Oem Hid - Mtec
Rominl,
Thanks for the feedback. Thanks for the info about OEM HIDs approaching 500K as they age. Knowing that, I am considering the MTEC Cosmo Blues 4750K, the second bulb tested on the temperature post sticky. Plus, they are cheaper with a lifetime replacement warranty for a specif eBay seller, although he doesn't have a sterling record of retuning email. Has anyone used MTEC bulb?
I am also considering the Philips Crystal Vision that appears comparable to the Silver Stars but are supposed to last longer. Anyone try these yet?
The PIAA and Razos are expensive and tested lower than 4300K but I am still considering them. If I come across a good price, I'll snag them based on them matching your Polarg M4s and HID.
Thanks....

6 months ago I've installed HIDs in my headlights and my fog lights. My headlights were 8000K - blueish and my fogs were 4100K ( HID from Acrua TL ) . About two weeks ago I decided to take off my 8000K from the headlights because I had way to much problems with them. The fogs still have HIDs in them.
It was kinda stupid to drive with factory "yellowish" non hid headlights and bright HIDs fog lights. So, I went and bought Phillips Crystal White 4000K bulbs for my headlights. I thought it would match my HID fogs. You know ? it was waste of money. Then Ive tried other bulbs, not even close! So I gave up Of course, there are bulbs that come somewhat closer to HID look. But they are up to 80W and I would not recomend installing that crap.
If I were you, I would buy an HID ballasts and bulbs on ebay.

MTEC Cosmos Blues
Per the temperature sticky , the MTEC's output is actaully around 4800K. This should be close to my 5+ year old 4100-4300K OEM HIDs. That is the reason I ordered them. They should arrive by Saturday. I'll post pictures of them after I install them.
HID fogs are nice but are more money and hassle than I am willing to deal with right now. Plus, they tend to be bright and blind people, which is something I am worried about with the MTEC's output of 100watts (input is 55watts).
