Default Question for those of you with aftermarket HID kits

just installed a 4300K Techone kit and the beam pattern is a little off. i didn't touch anything on the adjustments, just installed the kit. i can actually see a faint "V" pattern of the lights and there's a stray glare off the drier side. it's weird. i took a bad pic at my parents house.

maybe the bulbs are upside down? lol

anyone have this problem?

you didn't know hid kits caused glare?

lol, why do you think people do xenon retrofits? true oem cutoff.

it looks fine, if you're that worried, paint the bottom panel of your housings with a flat paint. That should help a bit.

Yep, this is exactly what happens with HID "conversions".

You have an HID source in a projector designed for halogen. It's normal for what you have done.

They say the 97+ SC headlights are redesigned and actually take pretty well to the HID conversions. Your other option is a true retrofit with projectors from a car with OEM HID. I recommend the latter, you won't be disappointed.

yes glare is there for sure. that's the price you pay for hid kits, especially you have reflectors to begin with, NOT projectors (even more glare). your only option is the aim the headlights down a bit

i expected "glare" but i wasn't sure how bad it'd be, i've seen other SC's with the kits and their cutoff looks better. just wondering if this was normal.

I had an aftermarket kit and the glare wasnt horrible but I wanted that nice clean cutoff. So I spent the money and had a retrofit done and I am glad I did. I always thought my glare was caused by the bump where the turnsignal is, that usually causes some glare

glare on the projector kits are usually a bit better. on reflective housing like ours, it's worse

well, there are ways to get rid of the glare. There is a little hole in the shield on the projector that light escapes through and there is also a tab inside the projector that throws the light off a bit. Your headlight beam actually looks the same as stock just much brighter, so you notice these things more.

You can mod your projector a bit to cure this problem.. here are some images showing what I did to an extra projector.

I took the projector apart and cut out the tab and made a new shield out of sheet metal.
