Default Big'ol huge honkin' 10 mm FESTOON

I decided to make use of my abundance of 10mm monster white led's. I designed this festoon using 4 10mm high outputs.

I created these boards with custom cut perf and routed the circuit through resistors designed into the board.

Size Comparison. 10 mm monster led's beside the "usual" 5mm "little guys"

Festoon uncovered burning in......

Festoon covered........

Festoon light output in a dark room....

Holy Crap!!!!!

I have got to get me two of these!!! These look exactly like the rear headliner entry/map reading lights in a 2nd Gen GS......................

Absolutely awesome work Brian!!!

Hey, you got any pictures of the dome light for a 2nd gen GS all lighted up like that? You could do exactly the same thing for the map reading lights part of it as you did on these ones.

JUST ABSOLUTELY FANTASTICALLY, STUPENDOUSLY, EXHILIRATINGLY AMAZING WORK!!!

Are you considering making a kit to replace all the interior lights (map, dome, footwell, doors)?
I've got to have these.

Ya know, I would have..... but the person that sent me this did not send me the cover so I was only able to get an "idea" of what it will look like, and hope it works out.

Na, I don't do kits. I just hand build from scratch. I have considered building a few of these boards though, since they are the same size in each area.... but it would still need soldered into the harness.

I'm just messing around here.

Based on the results above, I have absolutely no doubt it WILL work out just great.

Geez, I wonder why the person didn't send the cover..................

All circuits with LEDs need a calculated resistor value in series to limit the current to a max rated value for the LED.

You use different resistors based on which led you use and what voltage you are on, then just + and -, no need to overcomplicate it.

Looks great

I find that when you group multiple large amounts of led's the voltage fluctuations can be wild at times and it tends to create spikes and burn them out randomly, so I try and use as little as possible and as big as possible. Keep us updated on their stamina.

I'm sure you already know this, considering you are the man when it comes to LEDs, but that problem is usually taken care of when you group no more than three LEDs per resistor.
