it's that time of the month again...another SC E46 retrofit (pics)
After having these parts sitting around for about 6 months, i finally decided to finish the OG E46/Audi TT HID retrofit.
Parts:
HIDPlanet 2.5" bezels
E46 / Audi TT Projectors
Osram / Xenarc 4100K D2S Bulbs
Bosch Bi Xenon ballasts
E46 Projector Adapter Brackets
I was thinking about forking out the very expensive Bosch Bixenon Bezels...but it was just excessive IMO.
Here are the projectors, and the cool little bezels:
Old (foreground) and the new (background)
I spent a lot of time polishing out the headlights to get them nice and clear, so that there is minimal distortion of the light output
Details of the 2.5" bezel mated with the OEM projector bezel. I had affixed the 2.5" bezel to the factory projector bezel so that the retrofit is nice and snug in the headlight housing, while keeping adjustability for alignment. The mated bezels were then permanently attached to the projector.
Now I just need to put them on my car!

It really isn't too difficult a job-- just requires patience, the right parts and the right information to get it done.
Doing a DIY HID retrofit with OEM components is the way to go

whats the total cost invested? im torn between going with a kit or a retro... i work for BMW, so i could get some of the parts cheap or even free if im lucky enough.

It wasn't cheap that's for sure.
A lot of SC owners had good experiencing keeping the factory projectors when using 97+ headlights.
I used 92 SC headlights for my retrofit, but I also have a set of 97 headlights sitting around (total 3 sets of headlights- 1 on the car, 2 spare sets for playing with)
I don't remember the exact amounts i paid, could be more could be less...but should be somewhere around there.
Pair of headlights from 92 SC300 - From Ebay seller $175.00
Pair of E46 Projectors (non bi-xenon) - From Private seller $150.00
Bosch Bixenon Ballasts Used - Private seller $150.00
Xenarc / Osram 4100K bulbs - $85.00
Adapter brackets from lex4jess(?) - $40.00
60mm projector bezels from HidPlanet - $50.00
Harness with fuses, relays, etc - $80.00
I already had a heat gun, various grades of sandpaper, and polishing compound - $FREE (~$55)
Time - $FREE
Procrastination - $FREE
So the total should be around $750.00...not cheap, but you do get an HID retrofit with a very clean cutoff line and uses all DOT compliant components.
