lack of knowledge on 98 gs300
hey people,
it is due to my lack of knowledge on car lights that has resulted in me asking this question.
i am planning on switching my stock bulbs (yellow) looking tolook like HID and decided to go with either nighthawk or sylvannias.
my two questions are;
1. i used search and found that some people posted that these were no different to the stock bulbs in color.(how true is this cos i want white light not yellow)
2. i know if i have to change it , it is 9006 for low and fog and 9005 for high. but upon closer look through the headlight, i see another little bulb beside the bulb in in the small round lights(i think those are the low. (making it two). what light is that and what kind of bulb do i get to make it white?
just wanted to know these b4 setting off to buy the bulbs.
thanks guys

I bought 9006 Sylvannia Sivlerstars for my father-in-laws Highlander a few months ago....thinking it was be more "white" in color...however, after installing them and taking a look at night....they still look yellow to me.
I suggest a HID kit for the 9006 low beams....and 194/168 Polarg M4 for the little "wedge" DRL bulbs.

Oh...I forgot to mention...stay away from those higher wattage bulbs that give you the HID "look"....in time....they will melt your wires and/or sockets.....not worth it imo.

They're at least 80 watts
Burnt my wires but luckily I caught them early before it would eat its way up.
I wanted to go the cheap route and didn't discover Club lexus in time
Silverstars ($50 ) aren't that great either and doesn't even put out that much output, regardless of what they advertised and what the package says
Learn the lessons through us and save $ at least for a real hid kit. Should be no more than $300 and will last you years, but stick with brand name: philips, koito (lexus).........
If you want, I'll send a bulb to you to find out
