Question Question on Halo Brand Lights

So I talked to an area body shop about getting HIDs put on my IS250. He said he gets lights from Halo which produce OEM lights so don't sell aftermarket like Xenondepot. He also mentioned they use Philips bulbs.

I was wondering this were true and if Halo is a reputable company.

He charges $400 installed for the 6000k which seems reasonable to me with Xenondepot 6000k kit being 430 w/o installation.

Thanks for any input.

Personally I WOULD NOT pay any more than $250 if a kit is using aftermarket parts. For $400-500 range, everything better be OEM spec parts. Real philips, koito, or hella ballast. Real philips, ge, xenarc, or sylvania bulb. The aftermarket kits usually aren't engineered to as high of a specification. OEM HID components are deisgned to last the life of the car. 10-15yrs. Even if you get a used set of OEM hid ballasts, it will outlast a new set of aftermarket ballasts.

I'm not all that knowledgeable about this stuff. Not sure exactly what you mean. I can't get a kit from Lexus because they don't sell IS250 HID kits. So I have to buy from a place like XenonDepot. They use Philips bulbs and ballasts. I was asking about the company Halo and if anybody has heard of them. As I said in my first post, the guy said they use Philips components too.

What exactly is your definition of aftermarket?

never heard of HALO branded HIDs before but id most likely stick to xenondepot since they use DOT-approved ballasts and bulbs from Phillips.

Well the $400 quoted included installation. What is the general cost of installation for HIDs (from a private bodsyshop not Lexus)? That way I can see around how much the cost of the kit itself is.

Thinking I will probably get the XenonDepot kit and get that installed, but don't want to pass up a good deal if this Halo brand uses philips stuff too.
