Headlight difference

Does anyone know the difference between the HID and NON hid headlamp units for the 2nd generation GS? Is it ok to add an aftermarket HID plug n play to a GS without HID headlamp units?

The reflector shield is different...so are the bulbs....OEM uses D2R....while a kit uses D2S rebased bulbs.
