I left my OEM Hids alone on my IS350. They are 4300 and appear to be bright white. I like that look the best. My car sitting next to my friends Tacoma with 6k hids.. well, I don't care for the blue and prefer the crisp white!
The white looks better with Yellow fogs too.

My 4200s with the mixture of Audi projectors have a perfect cut-off line and look real clean/stock. I have been at MANY stop lights with the lights aimed straight at cops and they think nothing of it. 8000+ just looks blury and tacky(no offence to any of you with them). PM me if you'd like pics at night.

I had a 6000K plug and play kit on my car for a year but decided to go with 5000K for my retrofit. I like the color output of the 6000K but I wanted more light output from the retrofit, which is why I did it in the first place. The 5000K light looks bluish-white when you look at it but gives off a nice white light on the ground.

So I just picked up 3 kits.
kit 1) 4300K = probably closer to 5000K
kit 2) 4300K = around 4300K
kit 3) 5000K = like 3200K
So if you read the fine print it says they should be around that temp but I honestly think all bulbs are not made the same as it just depends on the manufacturer.
I like the first kit myself while my buddy likes the second kit cuz it really looks stock.

I just installed some TSX projectors on my 2001 ES (retrofit). The light bulbs are 5000k. The light output is awesome. Nice color flicker and illumination. I had 8000k and the color on the lens looked cool but on the road, they do not compare to the Phillips 85122+ (5000k). HID is for better lighting. If you choose to go over 6000k, you are defeating the purpose.

The lows will color shift but so will you fogs and they won't match. I think if you're going to go OEM on the lows the highest you can go on the fogs to try to color match is 5000k. Believe me I had 6000k in the lows before and I have 5000k in there now and there is a noticeable difference. Maybe if you put 6000k in the lows and OEM in the fogs it would look better.
