D2S HID bulbs

D2S HID bulbs
I just installed my headlights back onto my car after doing a retrofit. I used Philips 85122+ bulbs. When I turn the lights on they go from a nice blue to a white-yellowish color, probably more yellow than white. I bought these bulbs because they are supposed to be 5000k. I have 3 questions about the bulbs.
1. Is there a burn-in period for these bulbs? (I think there is but not 100% sure)
2. How long is the burn-in period?
3. What color should I expect the light to be after the burn-in period?

about 100 hr is required.
like yours, my bulbs were really yellow when I first got them. It's a characteristic of these new bulbs. Later on, they'll be mostly white and as they age long enough, they're white with hints of blue.
My friend is using my old bulb on one side and a new bulb on the other side. You can definitely tell a difference.

you have any pics of the retro??? whats your setup??
if they are brand new, that would explain why they are a little more on the yellow side. Have you checked to make sure you have 85122+ it should have it printed right on the base of the bulb, otherwise, brand new regular 85122 bulbs are pretty yellow, 85122+ probably is a lot more whiter/ even tho they seem yellow to you.
another thing you have to remember is if you had a gs4 or factory HID with reflectors is that reflector HID channel the light and filter out any yellow light, which is what makes them seem so much bluer. Sounds like the color is right on your bulbs.
**while typing this out GSteg beat me to it lol
If you are referring to the colorshifting period I believe any noticeable change/difference would be closer to 100hrs,although by 50 hours they will have still will have shifted, but 100hrs the change should be more noticeable. but by 100hrs your bulbs should be noticeably more of a true white with a hint of blue.
once you hit 1000hrs, your bulbs will have reached about the maximum color, and are hardly white anymore but also decreased in output by as much as 30%
so color in OEM bulbs while it looks better means your bulb is aging.
Sounds like your color is where it should be, if they are new. Some people in order to rid of the yellow, break in there bulbs by having them on all the time, lol as soon as they get in the car they turn on their headlights. So you could try that, other than that all sounds right

Thanx for the responses guys. I put them on all the time to get that burn-in faster. I don't have factory reflector bowls it's a retrofit. I bought the bulbs off of eBay but they seem legit, they have Philips 85122+ on the bulbs, you could search for the bulb number and find them, but the one you're looking for is 85126+ which is the one for reflectors as opposed to projectors.

If you have any pics of the lights on day or night, would you please post. I am curious as to the look? Also, what kind of projectors do you have for your retro?
