To Retro or not to retro...
Okay well im parting out my camry. i have retro'd bmw e46 projectors, ballast, bulbs etc. Im trying to decide if I want to do the same to the SC400.
the headlights are nearly 100% clean. I never retro'd on a already projector based car, wondering if it would be harder or not. What would you guys do? Attempt to retrofit them or sell it and buy something else...
IMO, the stock lighting is poor... atleast compared to driving with hids for so long.
btw ive been looking on hid planet so i dont need the link, thanks

I had an aftermarket HID kit and it wasn't enough for me. I ended up doing the retro myself. Although it wasn't the best work but at least I'm proud I did it myself and now I have better lighting. So to answer your question, if you're up for the challenge then I say go for it. The lighting will obviously be better with a retro than without one so try it. Plus you already have all the components which saves you time and money.

I think that you have enough opinions. The verdict is in. Go with the retro-fit. You will not be dissapointed. Projectors (HID) are far superior than reflectors (HID).
The other night, I was driving behind a GS400 ( brother-in-law's) with stock reflector HID-I have retro TSX projectors (HID). My headlights dwarfed the GS. My light output was wider and farther than his. I could actually see my lights in front of his car. His reflectors emit light mainly in front of the vehicle about 20 feet. While this is bright, it is not even close to the light output of my headlights.
I would think that the same would apply to your stock halogen projectors. They are just not set up to handle the HID bulb. They do not maximize their full potential of brightness and projection.

If it were me, I'd sell the Camry headlights with the retrofit then use that money to get new projectors for the SC. This way, you won't have Camry headlights with a gaping hole in them that will just take up space.
