Are you using stock headlights? The focal point of the D2S HID bulb needs to match the focal point of your stock bulbs (9006 I think?). You should've gotten rebased 9006 HID bulbs.

You need an HID type housing reflector/projector.

i ghetto rigged the bulbs that came with it. im gonna try some rebased 9006's that might be my problem. i have the lenses and stuff. but no time to make them work. i was looking at the stock projector and the audi a6 one. and they are almost identical. smaller lense. but it had that top plate missing. im gonna pull my headlights apart prolly and cut that off and order some new bulbs

1sxryrxy- you need HID bulbs that have been modified to fit a 9006 hole. I believe xenondepot.com has these so just pop over to their site and pick up bulbs.

The rebased 9006 HID bulb is longer than the D2S HID bulb. The D2S bulb sits in too short inside the 9006 projector housing....this is why u don't get enough light output. My friend had a first gen GS300 and he did the swap with BMW 330i D2S bulbs & ballasts......turned out horrible. He had to drive with he high beam on to be able to see the road. He later swap those D2S with 9006 based HID bulbs.........looks great.

I had a similar problem when I fitted 9004 bulbs in my H4 headlights , the light was bright but all over the place , turns out the 9004's have a cap in the headlight which the bulb doesn't have , changed to H4 bulbs which have a cap on the bulb and the light is brilliant !!
Perfectly focused .

Hack the bulbs and make them fit where they dont belong? Just cause it goes in the hole doesnt mean the job is done and it will work proper. I am strongly against kits, cause they create glare. Drive a car with OEM projector/reflector HIDs and you will know what REAL HIDs are suppose to do. I suggest taking the bulb outs and if you really want HIDs then do a retro. Your job is already half done since your car has projectors in them, take the old ones out and put OEM projectors such as TSX or S2ks in there, you will not come out of your car at the end of the night, thats how much you would love your headlights , good luck to you.
