Anyone ever made their own shield for projectors?
I finally got the chrome angel eye headlamps for my ride. I had the McCulloch 5000K HID kit which I threw in.
Here's the final result.
Cut off is clean, but both shields (in the projector) have a sharp slant down on the right side, about two-thirds of the way over. This causes those bizzarre tangents going up to the right. When driving, it's off on the side of the road (which is nice for signs), but I'm thinking of replacing the shields.
Has anyone done this. Would aluminum be the correct material?

I've made a custom shield for my old TSX projectors. It was fairly simple and I got good results with it. But in the end I ditched it before I sold the projectors. Didn't think the new owner wanted the projectors with a custom shield
I would use aluminum. It's easier to cut than steel, and it wont absorb as much heat. Not to mention, GS headlights are notorious for condensation. Condensation + heat + steel = rust

Thanks for the replies. Output isn't bad at all, here's a better ouput picture.
I don't like the weird angle on the shields. It creates that sudden angle up and to the right. In the pics I don't have the headlights aimed properly yet. The angle is great for illuminating street signs on the passenger side but I'd rather they just be straight.

I feel bad for the on coming traffic and being that you are from needham i think one of these days i'll run into you . I can easily see hot spots in the output and that crazy flare causing glare for the on coming traffic. Compare your output shots to the following from mine, these are LS430 projectors in a 2GS headlights.

Yeah, I won't even try to compare this to LS 430 projectors. If I had the time and the skill, I'd have gone the retrofit route. Your retrofit is gorgeous, definitely the nicest that I've seen.
I had a HID kit with the stock reflectors and they were just awful. I had to point the lights so far down to reduce glare that they were pretty much useless. So my next step was to get projectors. These were the only aftermarket projectors available. I was told that the 9006 bulb fit, but not without some modifications on my part.
The beam pattern isn't as awful as it looks. To oncoming traffic there is no glare because the rise is way off to the right. Once I aim the drivers light over to the right, there will be even less chance of bugging on coming drivers.
