Default Yawn... another LS430/GS retrofit

As some of you know I did a LS430 retro for my brother down in MD last year, he owns a 99 GS400, so it was time to do one on my own GS300 as well. Mine didnt have the HID option so had to use Hella Gen 3 ballasts along with a 9006 harness that I made

This the GS4 retro i did last year

^^ It was done in one day so things were perfect, as you can see I cut the GS bezel a bit too much to make the projector fit and the projector sits back a bit rather than where it should be IMO.

^^ This is how my car looked before the retro, the lenses were all yellow and fogged up so I had to refinish them .

Car opened up, the toughest part of the whole retrofit was to take the bumper off and put it back on, some hard to reach bolts.

Test fit

The initial plan was to have the projector sit back this far through the headlight.

This is how the lens looked before refinishing.

Test fire, white balance on my camera is way off, output is yellower than it actually is

This is how far the projector was to sit back

pushed it an inch forward and after the shroud work here it is

Finished product

Notice the refinished lenses and the projector and how it sits further up, the LS bezel looks great through the opening once pushed forward just enough

Foam washer + factory halogen 9006 boot to creat the seal.

Default Installed and output shots

As stated earlier, white balance is way off but you get the idea

I need to find a long white wall to take better output shots, finally figured out the white balance issue so will have better night shots soon .

Thanks for the kind words guys. I was able to fix the white balance issue and here are some more pictures that i took around dawn time yesterday.

A few people have asked about the cost on these, my break down is as follows, I worked on my existing headlights but a better idea would be to buy a spare set to work on, this will insure that the car isnt put off of the road for a long period of time.

Projectors -- $325
Phillips 85122+ bulbs -- $70
Hella Gen 3 ballasts -- $160
Custom heavy duty 9006 harness -- $70 ( you can buy cheap harness from ebay etc )
Misc. parts (nuts, bolts) -- $30

So you are looking at anywhere from $600-$700, this excludes labor (only if you are paying someone else to do it for you rather than doing it yourself).

ive been thinking of going LS430 with color mod but i dont wanna give up the auto-level in my OEM hid setup

and havent been able to find anyone who wanted less than my first born in exchange for a retro that can keep it.
