You would probably be finding it's cheaper to buy new hid headlights alone and buy an hid conversion kit with d2s or d4s bulbs or whatever are used for the hid headlights, and have it be WAY cheaper if they even say they can do it.

I'll bet it'll cost over 5k for you to go to Lexus and have them do it. IF they do it.

You "HID Kit" boys can thank me later.
Great info,thanks.

Well with the opinions of you guys here and HIDplanet info,HID kits aren't the way to go because of projectors and such.
So I guess I'll just stay with my MTEC setup even with it's bit of less illuminating of road surface.

HID projector/reflector retro fitting is nothing new. Its been around for a long time, I've personally done 2 sets myself.

Retro fitting would be great but I can't do it.

I just may be back on the HID conversion wagon.

I've read a few times that the HID bulb lines up with the stock projectors and makes a cut off beam just like stock but with much more light output.

Anyone agree?

I think so. Looking at the ISx50 setup, HID bulbs in the halogen projectors seem to throw the same height and distance as OEM BMW HIDs. From what I can tell, putting the two cars next to each other yielded similar light patterns (though, the aftermarket MTEC 6000k HIDs were a bit more blue). As for the glare, I can't tell looking into the light, but so many factors weigh in on glare such as how clean the housing is, how clean the windshield of the oncoming car is, etc. The aftermarket system is definitely not as glaring as an SUV's standard halogen headlights.

Besides, even driving home today, I noticed that many halogen headlights were very glaring and higher. Is it just me or have car headlights just gotten brighter over the past couple of years?

Thanks for the info,Mike.
I'm going to take a shot with a conversion kit.
Now I must decide between MTEC and Xenondepot's Xtreme kit.

I've asked questions to both companies and have decided to go with forum sponsor Xenondepot's 5000 Xtreme HID kit.
In doing my research I've found that Steve at Xenondepot is well liked here and has a great customer service policy. Also I've haven't read about any issues with the Xtreme kit.

Steve, the kit is in and it was a very easy install even without the instructions that weren't in the box.I did initailly refer to a pictorial post from a xtreme install thread here.
I haven't tried the HID's other than against the garage door as it snowed last night. The car doesn't see snow or rain unless it has to.
The beams on the garage door were nice and low stock and the drivers side, like it should be,was lower than the passenger side.
