Default wierd radio reception

I have a HID conversion kit for both my low beams and my fogs in my 03 es. Its the wierdest thing, when i turn on my lights (both lows and fogs) my radio reception goes to crap. I can still hear the radio fine but i get all sorts of static in the music. I can turn off the lights and it goes away. has anyone had any issue like this?

The kits are JDM Imports, Inc. They are a 8,000K system and a 3,000K system. The kits are awesome and ive had them for at least a year but this is really starting to annoy me.

Any suggestions fellas???

I have the same issue on my SC4. When HIDs go on, radio gets lots of static on weaker stations, less reception.

This happens because of the ballasts not being shielded like OEM which has them built in the back of the headlight assembly. Sometimes it also occurs if the ballast is touching a ground wire or part of the vehicle frame.

You will not find this is the case with our HID kits. This will usually happen with lower grade ballasts.

From my experience, you would need to either try to locate the ballasts in a different location or if all else fails get new ballasts.

well, i guess thats why these ballasts were cheap :P
Not properly insulated maybe...
Mine is attached via double sided adhesive foam to metal brackets bolted to the frame. I would think its insulated from ground this way.
Curious if its emitting interference into the air or thru the electrical system.
I wonder if shielding the wiring will help?
For the price I can deal with it, for now.
If I get my power antenna working again, it may be ok.

I have seen there kits they look the same as what I have. I bought them for 270 shipped a few years ago so there not the cheapo type.

I am going to try grounding them and then not grounding them to see if that helps.

Brian231,

We have had many customers contact us prior to buying stating that they have had interference with their current kit. They switch to our kit for that exact reason.
