Uh Oh! He is doing it again...
.. a retrofit that is .
Inspired by the following thread from a year or so ago, my next retro is a set of M45 projector (with E30 clear lenses) in 2GS headlights .
I wont be doing the retro anytime soon since i dont have any spare headlights and every where I look people want an arm and a leg for a set ...
Do we have any donors?? I mean does anyone have a spare set that they want to donate to this cause .. lol condition dont matter.. Looking for a set of halogens for less than $100 ( i know i am asking a lot but it never hurts to ask) ..

How much did the e30 lenses improve the M45 projectors? Haven't seen that lens swap combo before. Those are cool shrouds.
Isn't it fun to retrofit 2GS headlights? They fit any projector you want! Can't say the same for the highbeam side though.

I'll have output shots in a day or two. I need a set of headlights to retrofit these into, anyone willing to help?
To add my personal touch to the retrofit here is an idea, a custom parking marker/indicator?? What do you guys think, 12 LEDs installed in the GS bezel. The circuitry would be hidden underneath the bezel where as only the illuminating heads would pop out from the bezel.
A quick wire up that I did
These suckers are bright .

The LEDs are TOO bright I might have to tame them a bit or may just use them as turn signal in conjunction with the turn signal already present in the headlight.

J, is there a way you can adjust the amount of current going to the leds?
Just curious...how was the guy going to sell the auto leveling feature if your GS didn't come prewired for it?
Is he going to offer to install it for you too for that 2500 price or was he going to just give you the wires and sensors and leave it up to you to have the dealer or your mechanic strip your GS down and install the yaw/pitch sensors and computers for the full auto level feature to work properly? In the end, unless you have a hook up, you're going to pay alot more than that 2500 price to have all of those pieces installed properly....your best bet is finding a GS with factory HID and then buy a set of GS HID headlamps to retrofit from.

^^ Yes, also note that these are same LEDs that there are present in the current model BMW 5 series marker built into the headlight. The difference is that the BMW marker has 5 of these on each side and these are 12. I might stay with 6 on each side. Wiring options are following
-- Constant on parking marker, hooked up to the side market present in the bumper.
-- Dual illumination marker, hooked up so its dim when parking lights are on yet brightens up when you turn on the turn signal, in this case a PCM board would need to be added, something I dont want to do :-s.
-- Wired up to work as a turn signal in conjunction with the turn signal already present in the headlight.

Lol I know, I couldnt find a PCB board at that time , LEDs are Superflux 3mm across 4 legged amber LEDs.
