Default Questions on going to HIDs in a non HID 99 GS

Well my car currently does not have HIDs however I want to get them. I have a couple questions.

1. Are the non HID housings known to to have extreme hot spots, or is it known to burn out and/or get damaged with using HID bulbs?

2. Is there something that I can get to reduce glare from the non HID housing?

3. Is it better to just find the OEM lights and use them instead? I understand the price concern, but I'm mainly concerned with a HID setup that will give me minimum glare and that won't damage the housing. I know retro is an option, but that's not a route I want to go.

1. glare is significant with an HID kit. How do I know? My friend had them on his car before he did a retrofit and the glare would rise at least 30 feet off the ground. Most people who say they do not have as much glare are those who have HID kits in their car. I guess it's a psychological thing Using HID in the OEM setup will not damage the housing. The only real difference from the OEM HID and non-HID housing is the reflector itself. Even then, they're made from the same material and I believe the one for the HID is a bit thicker. I can't remember though. It's been years since I last held both in my hand.

2. Not that I know of, unless you make some kind of shield for the bulb.

3. I rather get OEM hid housing before putting any kit on my car. At least with the OEM hid, you're not going to be blinding people, and cops can't really hassle you for it because HID was an option for the 98-00 GS.

And with regards to damaging your housings, don't worry man, you won't melt anything, just make sure you get a kit with a harness if you decide to get a kit or go with OEM housings.
