Default Aristo Retrofit: Before and After - - Pictures!

Hello Club Lexus,
I'm Mike from AACstyle.com. I rarely post, but this set of 1st Gen. Aristo lights has motivated me to get on here.

A Canadian customer contacted me a few weeks ago regarding a BMW-retrofit in his 1st Gen Aristo (GS300). Without hesitation, I got his lights here in the shop and began fabricating.

The modifications:
-Removal of Amber turn signal lens.
-Oracle HALO Kit
-Oracle HID Ballasts
-BMW E46 Projector retrofit

Two problems presented themselves for this retrofit. First, the customer had no bezels/shrouds. Second, the 1st gen. isn't easy to allow a fully adjustable set of projectors - - so modifications of the original mounting pieces were necessary.

In the end, I fab'd his old bezels to be mounted on the new projectors - and modified his old projector adapter to fit the new projectors; thus, they allow complete adjust ability.

Go ahead, check em out - and ask questions!

Stock OEM Lights vs. AAC Customized Lights

1. Can you tell the difference? Subtle...

2. An up-close shot...

3. HALOs on...

4. Booo!! Halogen

5. YAY! Xenon!

6. The money shot.

Hey whats up, man? I think I met you at the Atlanta DUB show with Justin.

Yeah, wasn't too sure how many people did it this way - props to those who did. Takes a bit of ingenuity this way.

Thanks man. You would be the first to say that. Why don't you have a look at the 2nd-Gen GS subforum. Apparently posting the results of my work is the same as posting a Classified thread.... they seem to be REALLY upset that I posted.

great job!!
but it sucks that you can't really tell that there is a HALO once you
turn on the head lights..(it's very hard to tell from this pic)

I think it looks amazing... (as I'm the Canadian who sent in the headlights!)

My biggest reasoning for having Mike at AAC do my retrofit was based on the fact that the stock projector does not allow for a sharp cutoff or does not illuminate the path ahead of the vehicle very much. I purchased an HID kit, but as we all know, it does't really have the same effect as a retrofit.

From the pics, I can already see that this has been addressed significantly. I know it's somehting that I will have to wait to see in person.

Mike - I can see the cutoff being significantly different, however what is the width and depth differencial like between the stock and the retrofit? Would you be able to provide pics?

P.S. - Keep the pics coming!! Like to see the progress!

Good work, looks good. You should have also removed the lines on the lens.

Actually, the pictures with the HIDs "on" was with the HALOs "off". HALOs can be distinguished from about 15-20 yards away - - after that, they sort-of just melt together.

Should have removed the lines from the lens
I wish I could have. Unfortunately, I have no experience doing this. Not to mention, there's a lot of that "fluting" on the lens. Has anyone done this on a 1st gen.?

Well, the actually projector bowls stock Vs. bmw you can tell there's more curvature to allow wider and longer throw. Another important factor to consider, the projector lenses. The stock is a thick/dull material - looks like it would trap a lot of light. The BMW are far cripser and more transparent.

I'll have to hook up this inverter outside in the shop to illustrate the increased-width of the projector. Unfortunately, I just started the other side - so you'd have to compare it with another picture of a stock GS light output.

I'll keep you updated.

Funny that you mention this....I actually HAVE done it, but never finished the job fully because when I baked my headlights they became warped (hense why I shipped mine to you now!). Here's some pics actually of what I did. Not the greatest work, but I suppose you would get the idea. There was a post in the 1st Gen section on how to do this. Took me about 3.5 hours with a black and decker mouse sander and various grits of sandpaper, but this was the end result.
