6000K HID changing color??? WTF!

Default 6000K HID changing color??? WTF!

just notice this today that on my passenger side HID light bulb it's not bright white to bluish anymore instead it's more like stock ugly yellow but still bright though..is the light bulb going out on me or is it the ballast? btw it's the ebay brand HID...

Cheap HIDs...Will do that.

If your going to do PnPs and not a retrofit, gotta splurge or you'll be replacing them.

^yup...HIDs color shift with age but they usually get more blue instead of yellow

agreed.... switch the bulbs... see if its the bulb...


could be ballast... who knows... your bulb may be on its way out...

seriously, what did you expect from ebay bulbs?

HID was designed to last the life of the car, stick with name brands if possible

That is not quite true. All lights lose their output over time.

yes of course, but i guarantee you philips/osram bulbs will not just burn out in 2-3 years of usage compared to those cheap china made ebay bulbs and we are not talking about just color shifting

yes all HID will color shift but 6000k to appear yellow? that's a first i've heard

I had the cheap ebay HID's before. When I noticed a color change my bulb was going, until one day it just went. After that I didn't buy the cheap HID's from ebay. Only well known ones now.

I know people who have ran ebay kits for year with no problems. Its really a hit or miss thing. Im running a 80 dollars xentec set and have no problems so far.

all hids (good and bad) after a certain amount of time will change colour and shift towards 4000k
