retrofit help
I had a retrofit done for my 99GS and it turned out great, but not perfect. I had A4 lenses in the lowbeam, and the shroud attached to them was somewhat small and there was a large plate placed behind the shroud, only problem was the plate was painted a silver color and didnt match the chrome shroud too much. The housing was painted black and looked great. Now I have a few ?s
1. Can someone point me to a shroud to use. The opening of the shroud that was on there was only 2 1/4" and most that I see on ebay or 2 3/4". The lens looks to be about 2 1/2" or slightly more, so would a 2 3/4" shroud opening fit my lens or would it be too wide?
2. I am taking off my stock halogen headlights because I want to switch out the housings. I want to put the chrome housing in the retro for a cleaner look. I liked the black housing on my silver GS but now want something more OEM looking, and I think chrome will look a little better. Will this cause glare on the cutoff or affect the output in any way?
3. I was reading about people painting the shield, which side do you paint and what color? I gathered you have to use a flat paint to reduce glare and you want a dark paint. I also read that if it is painted blue it gives off a cool effect when not lit up. Do I paint the side that is closest to the lens or closest to the bulb? Also should it be a dark blue or more of a spectra blue like the 98 GS?
