I don't want to get into a major changeover to LED's in the wife's car----just a couple here n' there and maybe a couple on my Tundra.
I've Google searched many, many times for just info on the various LED configurations to use as a replacement and found no explanations.
How do you determine which LED bulb (configuration) to replace a stock bulb? A bulb with 1 LED, 4 LED's, 9 LED's, 10---12---15. How to you know if it's going to be too bright or too dim?
Example: license plate light (Bulb #2825). I've seen, probably, 10 different variations of LED's to replace this stock bulb. No explanation on lumens----nothing.
There doesn't seem to be any uniformity (standards) established in the automotive LED market. Just a wild guess as to what a person needs.
Any help would be appreciated.

Go here to read up on it. I've gotten LED from them before and all are still working.

Generally, you want the replacement to fit in the space you are using it. The more LED the more room it takes. I would suspect you want as bright as possible lumen wise with the exception of maybe the license plate as if its too bright, it may glare off the bumper too much.

Im currently using leds from http://www.superbrightleds.com and they're still good and bright since day one. You might also want to take a look at this thread these guys cover pretty much all the bulbs you can change to led.

what are u looking for in terms of lighting? how bright do you want your interior? this is what i have found. smd/smt type of bulbs are brighter than the regular type of led bulbs. well i personally think they are. it does does get confusing. you general look at the led specs in terms of size. so that way you know it fits. the more the leds the brighter is given. if you want those 1 smt led lights look at the angle it determines the spread you want. one big thing is look at the recommendations of what led company you should buy from. the newest purchase recommendations the better because it tells you how good the quality is now vs back then. quality does change. well i hope this helps abit.

"SM" surface-mounted LEDs are brighter because they have a larger emiting area than the "old style bulb" types which have a smaller emiting area. With that said, everything is size and dimensions and if the bulb will physically fit into the spot or not. That's why always check the specs for the bulb.
