Sorry I know this thread is super old but I'm having the same problem. I would have PM'd the OP but it seems I don't have the capability yet. So my question is, if its the bulbs, why would they still come on and then shut off in a second or two? That is what mine are doing. High beams work fine.

Hey buddy,

I'm happy to help. I got help from this forum and the dude was AWESOME! I can't answer why, BUT if ur bulb is staying on and turning off right away... or takes a bit it is most likely the bulb. I was lucky. But I doubt it'll be anything else. Also, if you see any dis-cloration btw the two thats also a sign. Hope this helps... let me know what ends up happening! =)

Default Problem solved

Thanks guys. It was the bulbs. I replaced them tonight and they work fine now. I bought the Toshiba-Harrison bulbs. Way cheaper that the Philips.

Its a little confusing because I guess these HID bulbs don't "burn out" like halogen bulbs. I hope this helps others who have this problem.

bro, I'm having the same problem..I've swictched from an OEM to a phillips D4S aftermarket and it would, on occassion, repeat the symptoms on my RIGHT headlamp. It would almost seem that these reoccurrences might be induced by either moisture build up in the housing unit or ballast housing unit especially after rainy days or hours after a carwash episodes after the vehicles have been driven while DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS or HID LIGHTS are turned ON......precipitating any visible or invisible condensation in the housing units. Hmmm???
