Default H7 Question...They don't fit!!!!

H7's go in my 98 low beam..and nothing is the same about them as the factory bulb. They are indeed h7's ..says it on the box. How come they don't match and the obviously won't work..Is there anyway i could get them to fit by changing something. The plugs aren't the same size so they don't even plug in at all. Let me know if anyone else rean into this problem.

Just a guess:

Have you mixed up the high-beam socket (9005)
with the low beam bulb (H7)? Read the printing
on the bulb that's already on the car.

If it is an H7, it should have a giant 2-prong plug (looks just like wall socket) sticking straight out of the back, as opposed to the 9005 which has a right-angled plastic housing with prongs inside. This bulb is the high-beam bulb for a 98...it goes in the outermost socket of the headlight.

The inner one is a 9005. If you're putting the H7 in the right place, you will have to unplug the power connector, which should leave the straight two-prong plug of the old bulb sticking out. There is a rubber gasket thing around the plug - pull this off. You should then see a metal clip holding the bulb in...unhook the clip and the bulb should slide right out.

If what I'm describing doesn't match what you're seeing, then I can only think that either you don't have a 98 or you don't have the factory headlights.

i actually just put h4s into my car a few days ago and i have a 98 es also....i thought they didnt fit either and i dont know if youre makin the same mistake but when i took out the factory bulbs, i accidentally pulled out the giant 2 prong plug with it and the ones on the h4s were the small 2 prong ones.....so i finally figured it out and detached the giant 2 prong ones from the factory bulbs and put it on the h4s and it fit perfectly

You mean H7's, right? Not H4s. 98 ES does not use H4s for anything...

Help, I'm totally confused, just bought h7's for my 97 ES3. Do H4's work as well for the low beams??

Did you check your owners manual to make sure? I have a 98, and there is no mention of H4s in the manual...only H7's and H3's.
