Default Used IS350 with hid kit

Hello,

I just purchased a used 2006 IS350 that has a hid kit installed. I located a ballast under the hood and it says DDM. How easy would it be to convert the lights back to the stock halogen? The color of the lights are nice, but I'm not too happy with the illumination.

Thanks

What color are the lights? does it have a K rating anywhere to be seen! Im betting they are really blue, which are useless!!!--get some 4300-5K HID bulbs and swap them out, you will get much better illumination! A HID kit will out perform Halogens 100%

I'll take another look tomorrow. The light is not dispersed evenly and peripheral illumination is non existent when making a sharp turn into a driveway for example. I'd rather have stock halogen at this point. I have no idea what DDM kit this is and I'm not trying to bad mouth their product in any way.

all you have to do is remove the kit and put some stock halogens back in. if they drilled the dust cover, you're gonna have to buy new dust covers. should be around $20.

New bulbs and dust covers is all I need? The factory wiring harness is not modified with hid kits?

Just get the 4300k bulbs. It's better than stock output

Yea, like I said go with differant bulbs (4300-5K)--you think your output is bad now, wait till you put stock bulbs in.

Here is a picture I found online of the ballast on another forum. Mine looks identical. It doesn't say if it is a 35w or 55w. On the back is a bar code and serial number.

That is probably a 35w kit as its most common. If you need more light output try a lower rating temperature bulb such as 4300k. If not you can simply unplug everything and stick in your halogen bulbs. No modifications needed.

That's what I ended up doing. I bought new dust caps and halogen bulbs and put everything back to stock.....for now.

No offense to whoever owned the car before me and installed the kit, but it wasn't the cleanest install. The driver's side ballast was shoved in the corner of the engine compartment and the dust caps looked like swiss cheese.

I'm going to do some more research and either go with a new kit or look for some complete oem HID's.

It's possible that the bulbs in your kit are not laser aligned to ensure optically correct beam patterns.

If you would like to get more information about our quality HID kits please let me know and I will do my best to help you out.
