Water in Headlamp
I am new to this forum, and I have a problem with my 93 ES 300. I have water leaking inside of my driverside headlamp and into my passenger side taillight. I called my local Lexus dealership and they said that they are familiar with this problem.
Is this a common problem with the ES model?
How do I go about repairing?
Thanks.

this is a very common problem and very easy to fix. It is just the silicon from when the factory sealed them has some how opened. I suggest taking them out and using the "oven method to clean the inside and reseal them with a waterproof sealant. Here is a site that will help you...and while your at it you might want to consider clearing the corners of your front lights, looks real good and easy to do!

i used this stuff called Seal-All that dries really fast and seems to be doing an awsome job of keeping the water out. You can probably find this anywhere (Wal-mart, K-mart, probably autoparts stores too) just apply enough that it levels out in the seam. AKE SURE YOU ONLY DO THIS AFTER YOU HAVE GOTTEN THE WATER COMPLETELY OUT OF THE LIGHT or you might find yourself in a little bit of a delima, seeing how fast this stuff dries!!

I found a pretty good way to get water out of the headlight. First, you obviously take out the headlight and shake/pour any water out that you can. After that, put the headlight in a small room with a dehumidifier on full blast overnight. All condensation will be outta there by the morning.
After that you would go ahead and apply the silicone sealant.

Alright there are basically headlight housing moisture threads for nearly every Lexus, but this question I have is particular to the 1992-1993 ES300. If I'm going to take the time to take apart the assembly, dry/over it, res-seal it, etc. I'd rather put a 1994-1996 ES300 assembly in it.
Questions:
1.) Do 1994-1996 ES300s headlight housings have fogging issues?
2.) Do 1994-1996 ES300 headlight housings bolt-on fit into 1992-1993 ES300s?
Thanks!

STAGED, I used to have a '96 ES, and for a few months before I traded it in last year, I had some condensation developed in the driver's side headlamp. You mentioned that one way of dissecting the headlamp assy, cleaning and resealing the headlamp together. There is also another way to get rid of the condensation, which my Lexus tech friend did to my '96 ES. He took out the headlamp, drilled a hole from the bottom of the headlamp near a corner thru one wall to the "mirrored" portion inside the headlamp, and used compressed air to air out the moisture and drilled pieces. You may want to consider this method if you happen to have compressed air setup or know someone who does.
As far as I know, the '95-'96 headlamp assys should directly bolt on to any '92-'94 ES.
