Unhappy HELP! Did aftermarket HID bulbs mess up my GS430 OEM HID AUTOLEVELING???

Hey people,
I have an 05' GS430 w/ oem hid's. I installed a pair of aftermarket iJDMtoy 6000k bulbs on my car (found the bulbs on CL forum and they're legit). Once everything was put back together I noticed that when I turned on my car, my headlights auto-leveled way higher than normal. The bulbs I received were d2s, and I know mine is d2r - but the order shows that the bulbs were universal bc they are for d2r-d2s. Anyway, I checked the leveler on my headlights and they're perfectly normal at 0 ("zero"). Even when starting the car on, I observed the bubble moving up then adjusting itself until perfectly @ zero. What gives? From the driver's seat view, once I start the car it auto levels from a HIGH point, then goes down towards the middle (which, I recall is normal height) then all the way back up to high. When I attempted to drive on a darker road, I saw more of my yellow fogs on the ground and barely any headlight beam (obviously since it auto-leveled at a higher point). It was working fine pre-installation. My friend and I don't recall touching or moving anything else during the bulb replacement. Looked on other threats and found nothing on this. Could someone help w/ any solutions? I'll try to upload some pics tomorrow evening or something. Any help would be greatly appreciated! You guys rock! Thanks!

Did it fit correctly?... you might have put them in wrong. The bulb shouldn't mess up the levelling

My understanding is that d2r bulbs are for reflector type lenses and d2s bulbs are for projector beams and that they are not interchangeable.

This should be in the lighting forum so I've moved it.

the wrong bulb is the problem...

D2R and D2S are dissimilar enough to cause your problem... basically, the focal point of the lens is in different spots and the different bulbs are meant for each one specifically...

switch back to a D2R bulb and you should be good... (assuming you have factory reflector type headlamps...)

This makes very logical sense - which I apparently did not consider enough. When I ordered the bulbs through iJDMtoy.com, I specifically ordered D2R bulbs. But upon receiving it, the box had the label "D2S" and the receipt said "D2R -D2S," so I assumed they were universal enough to fit. Here's the link:

Well, I will definitely put the factory HID bulbs back on - and if that is the case, I will contact iJDMtoy and have the send me the correct ones. Thanks ALOT for the help and info. I will keep you guys posted!!

D2R bulb have an additional reflective strip which may be causing the improper beam pattern.

So I contacted iJDMtoy and the D2C bulbs fit both D2R and D2S and they have sold countless bulbs w/ no problems. My friend and I took apart the bulbs, inspected them as we put in the factory oem hid bulbs (which, by the way, worked fine) and then put the aftermarket ones back in. Checked to see if they were correctly fitted in the housing and started my car. The auto-leveling went back normal! But, I was sure as heck that they were placed in right the first time (I suppose maybe human error?) I couldn't have connected it wrong or else they wouldn't have came on in the first place. Sorry I didn't post pics but I'll definitely post them as soon as I get the chance. I truly appreciate everyone's help! Many thanks!

Sometimes when the bulbs are not properly seated in the headlight, the auto-leveling will be off. The bulbs themselves are not in control of the auto-leveling feature, the headlights is what controls it so if the bulbs aren't seated properly, it'll be a bit off.

You are correct! It was not properly fitted correctly. Haven't had the chance to reply but you guys are extremely helpful. Thanks a bunch! The ones I picked up are working perfectly fine and it's clean. I'll try to post pics when I learn to navigate this better. Thanks guys!
