I believe one of our longstanding members, Shonuff, has successfully done this, along with an incredible array of mods on his '99 Black Onyx RX 300.
I suggest a search on his name and you will see what modding out an RX 300 looks like and get blown away in the process.
I'm aware of another member, Handogen, that's currently attempting something similar...Hando?

paddy.........oops daddy o,
thanks, but i did not do the oem hids, just the 2002 chrome non hid housing. i do not think the hid models will work cause of the wiring/ auto levelers. be easier and prolly cheaper to go with the non-hids and add an after-market hid kit.

DaddyO and Shonuff,
Thanks for the info. Shonuff's ride is one baddest RX i've ever seen! I really like the all Black paint, looks really cool, that might be my next mod, after all the lightings are taken care of.
Shonuff is really brave for hacking his RX
.....I dont have steady hands, so trying avoid cutting as much as possible.

My ears are ringing... hehe..
Yes, I've been working towards this Mod... I bought HID headlights to pop into my black 99 RX. This mod is a bit more difficult because it involves purchasing a HID Ballast with a D2 type connector, then wiring it correctly. I really wanted the headlights with the green tinted chrome so I bought these.
Do the 2002 non-HID headlights have the green tint or is the tint irrelevant? I looked on a couple of websites, and ebay auctions but couldn't tell.
Anyway, I'm considering backpedalling and buying those non-hid since they would essentially be plug-n-play.... But since I've already invested the $600 in hardware, I may just complete the job...

Well for Christmas I am planning to get the Philips HID's that nick and spin have. Cant find my answer searching so I'll ask here:
I have the regular headlight housing on my 1999 RX. Do I have to upgrade my headlight housings a newer style, or will the HID's fit in my current housing. Also, Nick or Spin or somebody, which kit do I need to fit mine...are there different sized kits?

Correct, you will need a 9006 kit. It will fit fine with your headlight lenses, no need to change anything. The kit will be completely plug-and-play. If you ever want to go back to halogen (for some craaazy reason) it's an easy switch.
