Question About the headlights

Hey ladies and gents I have a question concerning the reflective housing in our headlights. Is there any major importance of the reflective surface? Because if not then I might paint it to match the color of my car. Let me know the deal and your thoughts bout this possible mod.

I've definitely thought about painting mine a glossy black. I'm not really sure how much loss of light there would be, seeing as how we have projector headlamps. I might go ahead and do the mod this weekend to let everyone know how it is, since my headlights suck anyways.

My cuz has smoked the headlight housing of his 95 ES. I haven't seen it yet, but he claims visibility is still fine.....(he has HID....damn him)

Yeah the two options I'm considering are making a headlight cover with a design shceme the same color as the car (like on he 3000gt) or just painting the housing the same color. I plan on doing the taillights with covers of same color with a design that implaments the Lexus L shape logo and something else so that it's still street legal.

Aren't they projector? This would mean the reflective housings are pretty much just cosmetic...right?

yes, he is just painting the housing, since they are projector, there is probably little or no light loss at all....purely cosmetic.
