BMW 5-Series E39 Angel Eyes projector retrofit - 92 ES300
well, i'm talking to a guy right now that says he has got a pair of BMW 5-series HID xenon angel eyes projector headlights that he can sell me. i'm hoping to be able to fit the 5-series projectors into my stock ES300 housing after i remove the stcok projectors. these headlights also come with 2 pairs of angel eyes. im also hoping to be able to remove these without damaging them, and then glueing them onto my housing. at this point, i just don't know how i would wire them. hopefully i'll figure this out when i get them.
anybody got any suggestions????
or know anybody who has sucessfully removed BMW angel eyes and put them on another car?
all info is greatly appreciated.
thanks guys

All that i wan to know is how are people getting these?!?!?!?! Are people stealing them off of cars or what. you can put them on your car, and the wiring is not that hard. Let us know.. Also how much are you paying????

There were two things about the 01+ E39 lamps I thought I'd mention.
First, I believe the high beams (inner set of lamps, like the ES), are reflector-projector hybrids (vs regular projectors on the ES). They are definitely not pure projectors, as they have a lens with scatter glass over the top of what looks like a tiny projector (hard to tell from pics). This is a pretty standard BMW setup, my E36 had this type of high beams, and looking at pictures of the E39 and 745i, it looks like the same setup. Since they are also halogens, I'd be inclined to leave the stock projectors for the highs.
(Interesting aside, I believe on BMW models with bi-xenon, the outer HID housing angles up, and the inner set of lights is halogen to be used for quick flashing of the highs when the HID system is off)
The other concern is the curvature of the ES housing and the diameter of the angel eyes. I'm not sure if there's enough extra clearance to leave the angel eyes on without bumping into the ES housing.

Actually Bi-xenon works with a motorized push-arm that drops the shield down when you flash your high beams. No increased wattage, no tilting, no additional bulbs. Very simple technology.

I knew the Mercedes Bi-Xenon worked by a moving shutter (I saw it demonstrated on the new SL). The shutter on the MB models is very obvious. Instead of the whole light housing tilting up, a glare shield moves to raise the cutoff of the beam pattern. I wasn't quite sure how BMW did it. But, the main point I was trying to get across was that bi-xenon systems use the same HID capsule for the high/low beam, with an additional halogen bulb for flash-to-pass, instead of 2 different xenon bulbs a side.

BMW angel eyes won't fit on our cars, they're too big. I made these, if anyone is interested, $125. These are new, made out of plastic w/ leds. Any color works, Red, Blue, White, Yellow...

I don' t think he's on here anymore. He helped me with my HID retrofit last spring 03'. I'm sure he's still on AIM. I can PM you his info if he's ok with it. I'll check. Hit me on the PM and I'll connect you with him and we can go from there
