Default Bulbs for interior above rear door ('98 GS)

There was some discussion on another thread about replacing the interior lights above the rear doors. It looks like those are dual lights that have one brightness for when the door is open and another brightness when the little button is pressed.

Has anyone figured out a brighter/whiter replacement that has this dual capability?

Thanks...this is all new to me.

Ron, all the interior lights are 194 wedge bulbs.. They are the same brightness when the door is opened or the button is pressed.. I have all my interior lights changed out except the light lights in the front under where you put your feet... I can't find those bulbs anywhere.. I'm just going to take them out and change the harness and put another 194 wedge bulb down there.. If you need any lights let me know I got a few hookups and I actually just put in my Blue LED dome light lastnight.. I'll go outside now and take a pic so I can post it for you.. But for now here's my rear light above the door....

Thanks...I've got 4 194's on order. I went with the PIAA leds. I chose the blue/white color.

Let me know how the project goes replacing the lights in the foot area. I might want to try it myself.

Can you PM me on your bulb contacts.....I'm dealing with a company near San Francisco, but pricing/service is not that great. Besides, I think I'll need more 194's.

I finally got the correct polarg dome light. I like it a lot!! Should there be any concern with the increased wattage from 8 OEM to 10 for the Polargs?

Dust, I'm also running the Piaa Blue/White Led's in my doors and above the rear doors.. As for those Polarg bulbs I proboly have the same ones as you and I wouldn't worry about the difference in wattage because it's not like your keeping them on for hours at a time. Don't sweat it....

I tried the PIAA LED bulbs in my GS400, I was one of the first people to get them because we are PIAA authorized and they shipped it to us first like 3 weeks before everyone else.

The LED bulbs are BRIGHT, dual LEDs. .. I tried them in the rear door location in the GS but it does NOT work well, because of the way the LED light shines (straight out), it does not work well in those locations because the light is being reflected from the side. Using bulbs the the Hiper N4x, Krypton n4 or the Polarg M4s will yield a much brighter light, thats what I am using now.

Here was some experiments I was running using dual domelight bulbs, but since then, my whole car is white using regular xenon type like bulbs.
