Default Fake HID's

What do y'all think the best one's are for the money?

Ichibahn?

Sylvannia Silverstars (If they make H7's)?

Street Glow?

Others....?

I'd say none. The best I've seen are just fake looking. You can get a good 4100k HID unit for a good price nowadays, why not go that route?

I think the Silverstars got the best marks, there was a thread about them in the GS forum.

the silverstars are really good quality, but if you can puch a bit more money, go for PIAA's. the cheapest route i know is buying Nokya's they're pretty high quality.

From what I've read, 7000k is a waste. The stock ones are 4100k and they put out the most lumens of light around 3200, the 6000k is a better route if you must have the purple look. I prefer the stock 4100k myself. You should be able to find a 4100k unit for around that price. Check out the article on this site in the tech tips section.

any HID bulb that burns over 4100k might as well be a *****in joke! all of the stock HID's on Lex's, Bimmer's, Benz's, and Audi's are 4100k. the reason why the bulbs look so blue is cuz the glass is tinted or painted blue, just like the FAKE HID bulbs. the coloring of the bulbs drastically reduces visibility. and also, even though completely-blue headlights might look cool, the blue color is on the ground too, and i think that's just ridiculous. i have a 4100k kit and i works the best for me.

Dude, your Lex is still a $ 30K+ car. Putting fake HIDs on there would be tacky. Go for the real deal.

Default Silverstars

I'll be getting H7 silverstars this week hopefully. I'll let you guys know how it looks. It doesn't have the blue coating as the other silverstars so it probably isn't as white looking, but it'll probably have better light output. It's supposed to be 30-50% brighter than the regular halogens.

curtis, i dont know what you are talking about. amrit has 4300 degree factory audis. and i know bmws are not the same temp as lexus, they are way more purple than lexus. and my 5600 are sort of purplish. and they do not color the bulbs on HID kits, that is the color of them...

Good, OEM spec HID uses clear-envelope bulbs.

However,
Some asian made 8000K kits (and 6000Ks that are not genuine Philips Ultinons) use painted HID bulbs, just like the painted halogens. They look cheap, put out excess glare, and less usuable light. Why someone would pay $500 for blue painted HID is beyond me.
