6000k hid conversion on gs
so these few days there have been quite some discussion on the "hype" of the 6000k hid. well to make it better illustrated i have also taking some pics, so i will post them here for people to judge for themselves. couple of points i have to state here:
1) the pictures show some, but they still can't really show the rear thing. in some pictures the 6000k seems really blue, but in real person i still think it's white with a little shadow of blue. as always, you need to see it in real person to believe it
2) brightness. you might notice that my car LOOKS brighter than synergy's car. couple of possibilities. i know i aimed my headlight HIGHER than other gs out there, coz' i like it this way. also, my car did not have hid to begin with so the overall reflective housing is a little bit different. i have seen synergy's car and also rmmgs4's car, they have most of the reflection on the top part of the hid housing, but i have reflection on most of the housing. this is MOSTLY coz' of the bulbs. the d2r bulbs, when installed, has pretty much the whole top side covered up, that's why you don't see much reflection on the bottom half of the housing, and why my light looks a bit brigher (my bulbs do not have the metal cover).
3) prices. i have gotten quite some requests on where i got my prices from. the bulbs, you can email jus4bulbs@yahoo.com about the info. synergy got the bulbs from him, and i have known couple other guys getting 6000k bulbs from him. the guy is in taiwan and he claims that he's the supplier for suvlights.com. his price is 250 shipped if you send money order, or 260 shipped if you use paypal. this is for a pair of philips d2s/d2r 6000k ultinion hid bulbs
for the hid kit, you can email jason at discountcycle@ureach.com, tell him henry refers you and you should get the price of 460 shipped. that's the price i got for the hid conversion kit for my gs4, 9006 type. the bulbs are philips 6000k hid bulbs, and the ballasts are also philips. it's direct plug and play, no cutting wire or routing to battery. it's no brainer coz' you can't wire it wrong, there is only one way to wire it up. took me less than an hour to install.
4) if you already have hid on your gs and want to change the bulb to 6000k, let me tell you, you need some small but yet strong hands. ask synergy about it. he's a big guy and he couldn't even get his hands in there. i have a much small hands and quite some experience on changing the hid bulbs, but it still took me a while to swap out the bulbs. always start with the pessenger side coz' you have more room. that's a practice and the driver side would be a pain.
5) never touch the glass area of the bulbs or you will regret for the rest of your life. if you touch it, immediately use alcohol to carefully rub the bulbs.
6) always check the headlight aim after installation. refer to my diy in the information category for more info.
so with everything said, let's the pics start. mod i know this is about lighting, but there is less traffic there, and a lot of gs owners are curious about this mod. all my discussions are aimed at gs owners so i think it's worth staying here for a while. thanks.

this is in the outside, totally dark, minimal street light. the car on the left is mine, and the one on the right is synergy's car. his car has hid stock and changed to 6000k, and i have halogen stock and using hid conversion kit.
you might notice that my lights look a bit brighter

now we will do comparison between my car (6000K hid) and rmmgs4's car (stock 4100k hid).
this is my car, from the side. late nite, no other light, on the driveway

if anything, this would be the most convincing shot of all. the car on the right is mine, and the one on the left is rmmgs4. i have 6000k hid conversion kit, and he has the stock 4100k hid. we were both on the same driveway, same level, shooting on the road.
see how white my part of the road is, compared to how yellow the road looks from rmmgs4's car? i was standing right beween the two cars
