Why HID Retrofit?

Why HID Retrofit?
I was thinking of putting this thread in the lighting forum but I figured it was more car-specific, the SC...
After some searching on HIDs, I came across several threads about SC owners retrofitting TSX projectors, and various other cars, into the SC headlight housing.
Wondering why? My SC has projectors in them, OEM. All I see in the DIY pictures are projectors being swapped out for projectors that do not fit made to fit. Especially when $hundred$ is involved.
I'm looking into replacing the HID kit that came with my SC. They're from XenonDepor/XtremeHID. I think the ballast and the bulbs may be getting aged. Occasionally one does not light automatically until I manually turn the lights off for a second and turn it back on. Wondering whole new kit or just buy the bulbs and ballast...

Xenon depot should be able to replace your ballast if it is faulty. From what i hear they are a great company.
