Question Closest match for xenon bulbs to HID?

OK...i'm considering putting in fake HID/Xenon bulbs into the low beams on my ES...but i was just wondering what type would be the best match to the color flicker of audi/bmw/acura? I was debating between PIAA Super Plasma, PIAA Extreme Force, and Solaris Ultra Whites...any suggestions?

I don't think there are any wannabe HID/xenon bulbs that can give you the audi/bmw flicker. From what I've heard, PIAA Super Plasma and RAZO Premium White Zero come pretty close to HIDs without the brightness factor of real HIDs. I personally haven't heard of the Solaris brand so I wouldn't recommend it...stick with PIAA or RAZO.

brian is right on. with those bulbs, it can be whiter and brighter, but NOT bluer as in bimmer and audi. piaa plasma and razo are the best i would say

Even putting an actual HID kit in the stock ES projectors won't give you color flicker. The flicker comes from the way the cutoff on the BMW/Audi projectors are designed. There are people on this board who have physically put Audi projectors in an ES (amrit50, tiguy99 (soon), and a third member whose name escapes me at the moment.

My wife has an Audi A6 with HIDs and it's hard to duplicate... I have tried a lot of bulbs.. Stick with PIAA (IMO) as Brian suggested...

Post Slyvania Silverstars

BR1AN,
You may also want to consider Slyvania/Osram 'Silver stars'.

They are one of the best bulbs out there and close to the look you are looking for.

Uhhh...I didn't start this thread. I think you initially meant to give your suggestion to carfanatic, and besides...I'm using PIAA Xtreme Whites.

i have tried many brands, so say white ones , blue tinted ones, so say brighter ones, etc. this is a pic of the 1 i stuck with. the top RX300 in the pic is mine it has halogen krypton filled bulbs, and the bottom one is a RX300 with a aftermaket 8000K real HID kit. 8000K is supposed to be like the color of the new acura factory HID and the new BMW factory HID lights. you can see the real ones look a little lighter, more white, but the halogen bulbs i got for $18 look pretty close, alot closer than those blue colored bulbs.

the brand is SHOWOFF KRYPTON for those who are interested

from inside the vehicle looking out as you drive the light looks white as it reflects on objects and you can see what they look like from oncoming traffic in the pics

i also installed 9005 bulbs in all of my lights, it does make a difference over the 9006, i can see alot more while driving and so far no one has flashed me to like it was too bright

hope this helps people out in a decision
