Headlight bulb help
I'm sure this is covered but I only lurk here a couple times a month to get some good ideas from everyone. I can't find the headlight 101 thread.
Basically I have a 98 sc400 with 44K. One headlight bulb is out. I'm not looking to get to crazy, just go to the auto parts store and replace both bulbs (while I am at it).
I don't think I also need to replace the brights so let me know if I do.
What type of bulb and brand should I buy? I nice upgarde to what is stock would be cool but I don't want to monkey around with wiring and seals, just pop the old ones out and new ones in and maybe get a little better lighting. Thoughts? Please let me know what the bulbs run if you have done this.
Thanks in advance. I am doing my best to get up to speed on all the terms and tech tips. Take care.

You are going to want to get:
Sylvania Silverstars
2 Pairs
9005 Size
The 9005 bulbs are actually for your highbeam/DRL, (if you are equipped with them) but can be easily modified to fit your lowbeam sockets. The "mod" is very quick, painless and easy. The increase in light is amazing. The benefits of 9005 over the 9006 is that the 9005 does not have a "dipped" head (no silver cap) and it also is aorund 10w hotter.
I have done hte 9005 mod and so have many others. I swear by it and i'm sure others do too.
I know there is a link somewhere here in the forums, but I have no time to search for it now. So do a search for "9005 Conversion" and you should return some hits. If not i'll reply again when I get back home.
Hope this helps!

Pole Position
Sylvania/Osram
The Sylvania 'Silverstars' are your best bet and the way to go. Get the 9005 bulbs for the 9006 low beam conversion. You will be quite pleased with the results.
However, your will need to pick up some Philips 'Bluevison'
5W168 wedge bulbs for the running/parking lights to match
the color output illunimation of the new Silverstars.

i swear by the 9005 conversion as the next best thing to hid. look at my signature - i have silverstar 9005's in the headlights (the blue parking bulbs are from piaa, as are the regular high beams (only cuz autozone sold out of the silverstar and i had some leftover piaa 9005's...but they match pretty well, they are just extremely pricey and not worth it). the silverstar 9005's are considerably brighter than stock 9006's. if you dont want to bother doing the conversion, go ahead and just get some silverstar 9006 - yu cant go wrong
